July 2010 Restaurant Week Feedback

July 15, 2010

Trying to decide what to order or where to book last minute reservations for Restaurant Week? Here is some feedback tidbits we have gathered from readers/customers on our site, facebook and twitter (#cvilleyum).  There are so many delicious offerings but these responses may help you decide exactly where to go and what to order.  Remember to keep updating us with feedback after your meals!

“C&O last night…superb! Everything!”

“Ate at Ventana Monday evening and it was delicious. Ate at Fossett’s Tuesday and almost went to heaven! Just ate at C&O and was superb as well. Looking forward to Old Mill Room tomorrow.  I must rave about Fossett’s. I almost died and went to heaven. I ordered the tomato salad, the beef, and the berry with lemon sorbet for dessert. The beef was the best I have EVER had. I can’t even explain how amazing this meal was.”

“Did the Aberdeen Barn on Tuesday. I’ve lived in C’ville for close to 40 years and if you haven’t eaten at the Barn at least once you should. If you like steak and Prime Rib it is a must!”

“Monday night we went to Brasserie Montiel and it was wonderful. I had the Spinach and Goat Cheese Salad - superb! One of the best spinach salads I have had. My wife had the Duck Confit and Savory Peach Upside Down Cake - and we both thought it was delicious with a very generous portion of duck. Duck can be greasy so I am not a big fan, but this was perfect. The main course of Paella and Argentinean Churrasco were both very good. I loved the Paella and the skewered mushrooms and tomatoes from the Churrasco. The Dark Chocolate Genache for desert was heavenly!!!”

“Had a fantastic, if a tad wasabi-crazy, meal at Bang! tonight - I had the sake-steamed shrimp followed by the Sesame-crusted Ahi.”

“So yum doesn’t even begin to describe how good the menu is at Fossett’s during Restaurant Week! ”

“Spiced chickpea cake at Horse&Hound quite delish, atop lightly sautéed sliced squash; companion’s ribeye was ample and tender.”

“Ten was delicious last night, especially the Hawaiian Walu.”

“We went to Aberdeen Barn last night. Wonderful food and service. I had never been before; now there is a good chance I’ll return someday. Restaurant Week is great because you can try new places.”

“Ten was amazing last night. So much food, which was surprising.”

“Just got back from the C&O. All 4 of us had a great time. The food was fabulous!!”

PB&J Fund selected to benefit from July Restaurant Week event

June 29, 2010

The PB&J Fund connects Charlottesville youth with the resources and knowledge necessary to help develop a healthy diet. By working with community partners to provide healthy meals and teach cooking habits, it aims to address kids’ nutritional needs at each stage of development. The PB&J Fund was created in the belief that a healthy diet should be easily accessible to all kids, just like the most famous and basic childhood food of peanut butter and jelly.

The PB&J Fund has programming in the city public schools and they work with both Children, Youth and Family Services and the Boys and Girls Club of Charlottesville/Albemarle.  Check out some of their fantastic programs and join us for Restaurant Week in July to help PB&J Fund with their mission!
