According to my analysis, millions of persons in the world receive the loans at various banks. Thus, there is a good chance to find a sba loan in every country.
Ended up going to Vivace tonight. Excellent choice. I love the atmosphere in there - spacious and friendly. The pasta could not have been any better!! I love fresh stewed tomatoes ! They have extended the restaurant week and had plenty of openings tonight (Monday). Service was superb and food most excellent.
So far we have done Carmello’s. Very nice - Food about an 7.5 and service 7.5 (ok appetizers, good main course, average “frozen” desserts). Then last night we did Fossett’s - 10+ and 10+. If you ever get a chance to go there GO!!!!!!!!! Awesome!!!! Plus in February Tuesday’s are half off. Was going to do Brasserie Montiel during this extended week, but not after reading these reviews. I will cancel and try another, maybe Zinc.
Oh no, I had reservations tonight for L’etoile and they called that they were canceled due to the snow! I believe they will extend Restaurant Week for another day, but now I suppose I’ll just have to wait…
Well, I went to Boar’s Head on Tuesday. The food was excellent and the service was suberb! Highly recommend it.
I went to Brasserie Montiel on Friday. We had early reservations, so waiting for our table was not an issue. As an earlier poster stated, the appetizers started us off on the right track. But then…dinner…cold rice, the seafood dish had crab legs still in the shell…cracked but still it was a potted dish..sloppy. Of the 4 dinners only the Osso Boco was good.
Dessert was fine.
Then…I took my seafood leftovers to go. They put it in a styrofoam box (remember it was soupy), I went to place it in my car and it was so filled with liquic that it spilled everywhere. So I have to clean my car, dry clean my coat and slacks and I tossed out the rest.
I won’t be returning.
Wife and I went to the Aberdeen Barn for the first time, althought it has been on my list to try for a logn time.
Food was really good. I got the prime rib. More red meat than I should eat in a year!
Old time steak house, and, honestly, it’s nice they keep it that way.
anybody been to camino?
first of all koodoo’s for bringing restaurant week to charlottesville. so far i’ve been to fossetts, maya, zinc, camino and tonight ventana, tomorrow, l’etoile and saturday cassis. i must say that all meals have had a beautiful presentation, wonderful flavors to the palate and a wide variety of choices. we are so lucky in this town to have some of the finest dining establishments in the state. nothing like not have to travel to the “big” cioties for a gourmet meal. just keep adding good restaurants and i’m hooked. i do like the idea of the extra dollar for the food bank. we all need to suport the non profits. i lok forward to the summer selection. fresh and local theme would be nice.
The same thing happened to us! We went to Brasserie Monday night. The appetizers started off ok, but then we had to sit and W-A-I-T. The dinner and desserts were delayed so much that the tables next to us (who were seated AFTER us) were finished and left before we even got our main course! And the server refilled our drinks only once during the entire hour and a half we were there. While the food was decent, we will likely not be going back.
Although I am a huge fan of Restaurant Week, only restaurants that can handle the crowds should participate. Tuesday night I went to Brasserie and although the food was okay, I made a 7:30 reservation and was not seated until 8:40 (even though when I arrived I was told that tables were turning over and we would be seated shortly). While waiting at the bar, the executive chef (Alex) came out to apologize for the wait to the other guests and offered glasses, even bottles of wine to them; only after death stares did he come over and apologize to me and my friends, offering my two dining companions a glass of wine because they had empty glasses in front of them. I would have enjoyed a glass as well. Ten minutes later we were brought the “lobster lollipops,” a nice way of saying fried lobster croquettes on sticks. A shame I don’t eat fish! We were finally seated but ignored for another half hour while other tables, seated after us, were looked after. The food was good but nothing particularly special and in the end they lost my future business as well as that of my friends. Such a shame that Restaurant Week left such a sour taste in my mouth!
I went to Cassis Tuesday evening for a wonderful meal (resubmitting because my link did not appear the first time)!

I went to Cassis Tuesday evening for a wonderful meal!
It’s going to beat hard to beat Ventana’s originality of ingredients…props to Mike & Sebastian for not dubbing down their menu for the masses. The sweetbreads with parsnip puree were delicate and perfectly cooked; they were delicious and surprisingly light. Did I really just say that. CHECK IT OUT Always room at the spacious bar.
Can’t wait to try Maya and Carmello’s!!
If your looking for fine dining try Maya. My wife and I went this past weekend and were very impressed. I had the Salmon and my wife had Catfish and both were excellent, though don’t know if they are on this weeks Menu. Whatever you have try the Pinot Noir they have, very nice.
I have been less then impressed with the Boathouse. Went for my wife’s birthday and they made us wait a very long time then was even more delayed getting our food to us. Food was cold and not a very enjoyable evening. They shoudl stick to burgers and fries.
I just Thai vegetable curry one day and a plate of several sides, including spicey napa cabbage slaw, beets, roasted vegies with dill sauce, feta spinach onion tart at a new place near Wintergreen in Nelson County. Big breakfast place but great lunches and Friday dinners. Hope they’ll do restaurant week next year. Its not that far. The Java Depot.
This year I’m going to Brasserie Montiel.
Debby,
This late in the game, it’s not a matter of choice. Many are already booked up, and have been for a week or two. Try Maya or Brasserie Montiel (which is great) during the week (Tues, Wed…)
I have read about the restaurants listed but would like some help in selectiion.
Those of you that have actully been to these places-which are the best?
I need to make reservations for 3 of us and I need to hurry!
Thanks!!
I have yet to find an upscale non-western restaurant in Charlottesville. Milan, as mentioned below, is cheap for lunch and I’m not sure about Bashir’s Taverna. The only “asian” restaurant in Charlottesville that’s pricey enough to be listed would be TEN. If there are any others, I’d love to try it. Looking for good “asian” food….
milan/maharaja seriously? you know their lunch buffet is like $8, right?
it’s not a “selection process.” restaurants pay like $600, they get to be listed. hence the unselectivity of the restaurants this year.
Yes, please! If Ten ever offered this deal, I’d be the first one to make reservations.
Thank you so much. I am Asian and think non-Western food is good idea. I appreciate so much.
B, I’m totally with you! I only have six reservtions so far, but I’m thinking of adding a final one to fill out my schedule. Non-western food options would be a great idea - I know Charlottesville has some awesome ethnic options. Thanks for your post!
I love Restaurant Week and I have seven reservations set!
Maybe for summer 2010, some ethnic restaurants would be a great addition. Like Bashir’s Taverna, Milan/Maharaja, etc. Not sure how the selection process works , or if restaurants had to ask to be a part or Restaurant Week, but this is just a suggestion.
