Area wineries plan to offer special pricing to participating Restaurant Week restaurants, according to Chad Zakaib, the sales manager for Jefferson Vineyards.
“You’re going to find that a lot of wineries will be interested in discounts,” says Zakaib. “We would be very aggressive with our entire portfolio.”
Zakaib, a leader in the Monticello Wine Trail, an industry association, says that he expects restaurants will be particularly interested in wines priced low enough to sell by the glass. But in the end, the decision, he says, rests with the restaurants. “They’re not beholden,” he says, “to have Virginia wines.”
